    Taupō The Desert Road, State Highway 1

    The road curves lazily through fields of golden grass, heading straight for that jaw-dropping, snow-capped peak like it’s no big deal.

    The sky’s doing its thing; glowing in soft golds, pinks, and purples. Sunrise or sunset both are for sure stunning! Down below, the lake’s like this perfect mirror you look into, showing magic. As the 35 km/h yellow road sign tells us to slow down to appreciate the beauty.

    Personally, for me, this piece isn’t just a landscape it’s a whole mood: freedom, wonder, and that sweet feeling of being on the road with nowhere to be, just vibing with the journey.

    Milford Sound is where time hits the slow-mo button. The cliffs? They’re huge, very majestic, and wrapped in mist like they’ve been standing guard over these waters for ages. The light on the water shimmers, calm and effortless.

    There’s solitude here, but it doesn’t feel lonely. It’s the kind that makes you take a deep breath, relax your shoulders, and be in the moment. It’s like being in the presence of something so massive, so beautiful, that you can’t help but feel awestruck and everything else falls away.

    For me, this painting is not just a scene. It’s that feeling when you’re standing in front of something so stunning you forget about everything else and realize that right now, this is all that matters.

Where it All Began

How I Turn New Zealand’s Landscapes into Canvas Art

I picked up a paintbrush just for fun, not thinking much of it a couple of years ago. I started painting places I’d been, and something about it felt right. It quickly became a creative outlet I loved—a way to hold onto memories and turn them into something I could see, feel, and hang on my wall. That’s how my journey into acrylic art began.

As I traveled around New Zealand, I fell in love with the landscapes and started taking photos everywhere I went. From the calm blues of Lake Taupo to the dramatic peaks of Fiordland, I was constantly inspired. Photography helped me capture those moments, but painting them brought a different kind of connection. It’s emotional and grounding and makes me want to keep exploring. Every canvas artwork I create mixes what I saw, how I felt, and the beauty that moved me.
